Mr. Williard is no longer accepting new clients. You may still call for a consultation.
If you’re convicted of a felony criminal offense in Mississippi, you don’t just face the possibility of prison time and costly fines. Convicted felons face a number of additional challenges, such as limitations on employment or housing options. Under Mississippi state law, felons may even have certain rights restricted, including the right to own a firearm or even to vote. At the Law Offices of Rusty Williard, we are committed to defending our clients and helping them secure the best possible outcome given the circumstances. Reach out today to get started.
If you’re charged with a crime in Mississippi, you should immediately seek legal representation and remain silent when questioned by police. You’re not obliged to explain yourself or make excuses. Just tell law enforcement officials that you need to speak with your criminal defense attorney before you make any statements. Remaining silent after an arrest is a fundamental right of which you should take full advantage in order to increase your chances of obtaining a favorable outcome or having your case dismissed altogether.
If this is your first DUI charge, you could face criminal misdemeanor charges and may be ordered to pay fines of up to $1000. Recent changes in Mississippi law have made a provision for the non-adjudication of first-time DUI offenders. You will be monitored and go through a probationary period, but at the end of the probationary period, your DUI will expunged and there would be no official record of it unless you are charged with a second DUI within five years. In addition, the MS Dept. of Public Safety may suspend your license for at least three months upon conviction—and that’s separate from the immediate administrative suspension of your license if you refuse to submit to testing when you’re arrested.
Over the years, the Law Offices of Rusty Williard have successfully represented DUI clients in Justice Courts in Flowood, Pearl, Richland, Clinton, and throughout Mississippi. As a seasoned DUI attorney, Mr. Williard can help you deal with an administrative suspension and the MS Dept. of Public Safety, working hard to ensure that you retain your license and driving privileges.
